This ceramic heater produces and projects infrared heat far into your reptiles enclosure. Reptiles readily use infrared heat and it can help to further stimulate their natural biological function.

These lamps emit no visible light making them ideal when you wish to provide heat throughout the day and night.

As ceramic heat lamps can become very hot it is essential for your own safety as well as that of your pet that you use them with the correct wattage E27 ceramic lamp holder.  You should never place ceramic heat lamps directly against any flammable material or other electrical items. 

You should always ensure that ceramic heat lamps are safely caged at all times.

To help achieve heat transfer you can place a thick natural slate or rock underneath the heat lamp.  Position the rock at a safe distance so your pet can use it  without being too close to the heat source.

Arcadia Reptile Heat Lamp Safety Cage

Easy to use, this stylish cage simply fits over a lamp and lamp holder.

Helping to reduce the risk of burns, heat cages are essential for all heat lamps used inside of vivariums.

The Arcadia Heat Lamp Cage has a sprung door on the bottom to allow you to easily change the lamp.  The cage has flat eyelets for fixing screws and easy surface mounting. The cage also has a gateway for the power cable keeping everything neat and tidy.

Habistat Pulse Proportional Thermostat BLACK

A sophisticated thermostat that is ideal for controlling higher power ceramic heaters where constant warmth is required. The function of this thermostat is far more sophisticated than the simpler on/off switching devices. It will very accurately control your ceramic lamp heater and has a maximum load of 600 watts.

How it works:

The HabiStat Pulse Proportional Thermostat pulses electricity to the heater all the time. This results in constant and very accurately managed warmth.

You set your required temperature on the dial and at this point your enclosure and the heater are cold so the heater will be switched on to full power.

Then as the temperature in the enclosure nears the set temperature you have set the Pulse Thermostat cuts the power down to pulses. The degree of pulse (i.e. the amount of time the heater is on and the amount of time it is off) is dependent on the enclosures temperature.

In the early stages the ‘on’ pulses will be long and the ‘off’ time will be short.  When the enclosure is correctly set up and your desired temperature is neared, the ‘on’ pulses become shorter until the cycle levels at approximately 50% on and 50% off.

For enclosures where the heater is of the correct capacity, the cycle should remain at this point.

The heater is only powered enough to maintain the temperature set. It does not have to continually start the heater from cold.  This will vastly improve your ceramic heaters element life and is far safer for the animals as the heater rarely, if ever, needs to run at full power.
